Cherokee, IOWA (KTIV) -

Years after being destroyed by a storm -- a memorial is built for Siouxland catholic church.

Maryhill Visitation Catholic Church near Cherokee Iowa was flattened by straight-lined winds on August 1st, 2006 .

Months later the bishop of the Sioux City Catholic Diocese signed a decree dissolving the parish.

A makeshift memorial was put in place about a year after the storm but now a permanent one has been built.

A dedication of this memorial will be held at the church's old site this Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
