Fernando Valenzuela singled home Reid Fronk as the El Paso Diablos walked-off with a 7-6 in 10 innings against Sioux City Saturday night at Cohen Stadium.
Trailing 6-4 heading into the ninth, Wally Backman drove home Mike Murphy on a fielder's choice to pull the X's within 6-5.
On the first pitch of the next at-bat, Peter Barrows kept Sioux City alive, collecting his fourth RBI of the game with a solo home-run to tie the game up at six.
After a lead-off double by Fronk to start the 10th, Mitch Einertson moved him over to third with a fielder's choice.
With runners on second and third, after working a 3-1 count, Valenzuela singled home the winning run.
Starter Ty Marotz tied the his longest outing of the season throwing seven and two-thirds inning. He struck out five.
The Diablos scored four runs in the second inning, highlighted by JJ Muse's two-run blast.
After a lead off triple to start the third, Backman singled home Brandon Newton to make it a 4-1 ball game. Backman extended his hitting streak to 11 games with his 2-for-4 performance.
The X's struck again in the fifth to pull within 4-3 on Barrows' two run double.
Marotz, who heading into Saturday's game had only given up four home runs to opposing teams all season, gave up his second of the game in the sixth to Jermy Acey.
Sioux City will try to avoid the sweep Sunday.
