SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
By this time next year, an empty Sioux City building could have not one but two tenants.
The Badgerow Building has gone through years of renovations. Its first tenant, Raspberry's Restaurant, closed in 2010, after six months in the building.
Mako One Corporation's Bruce DeBolt has tried to attract a data center for nearly five years.
Monday, the California Developer announced to city leaders he's close to signing two national firms to fill several floors in one of Sioux City's tallest downtown buildings.
"One is multi-national IP transit provider who operates global fiber networks as well as data centers of their own," said DeBolt.
Sioux City leaders originally pledged two-million-dollars for the project when it was proposed.
Because of delays in attracting tenants, the city has only given DeBolt $800,000.
He's asking for the remaining $1.2 million when the first tenant moves in, which hopes will be September of 2013.
