Council officially creates casino zone

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Sioux City leaders have given final approval to a zoning ordinance that allows a land-based casino to be built downtown.

The ordinance passed unanimously on its third and final vote Monday night.

The zone runs from the Missouri River, north to Eighth Street, and Wesley Parkway, east to Floyd Boulevard.

Council members say they'll remain open to proposals outside the zone.
