Corn processing specialist Plymouth Oil files for bankruptcy

Posted:
MERILL, Iowa (KTIV) -

Plymouth Oil company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to high grain prices and transportation costs.

According to KLEM radio, the Merrill company hoped to get corn germ from nearby Plymouth Energy, but those plans fall through.

So, the company had to truck in corn germ from Wisconsin, which ended up being more expensive.

Plymouth Oil specializes in producing food grade products from corn, such as corn oil for cooking purposes.

The plant employs 25 to 30 people.
