X's rally to beat Rockland

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- -

The Sioux City Explorers rallied from an early 6-1 deficit to defeat the Rockland (NY) Boulders, 10-7, on Tuesday night. It was the first game of the three game series against the Boulders, who play in the Can-Am League.

Rockland hit three run home runs in the first and second innings off of X's starter Richard Salazar to build their lead. Salazar shut the Boulders down with five scoreless innings, before giving way to reliever Colin Allen in the eighth inning.

Sioux City countered with four runs in the second, highlighted by Brandon Newton's two-out, bases loaded double. Sioux City tied the game at 6-6 in the fourth inning, added one more run in the fifth and three more in the seventh to pull away.

Sioux City (36-46) got three RBI's apiece from Newton and Peter Barrows.

The series continues at 7:05 on Wednesday night at Lewis and Clark Park.
