WASHINGTON, D.C (KTIV) -
Just two days after President Barack Obama publicly blamed Mitt Romney's runningmate, Paul Ryan, for blocking the farm bill in the U.S. House, Romney has unveiled a coalition of farmers and ranchers that support him.
A campaign press release lists dozens of coalition members, including six national chairs. On the leadership team is U.S. Senator from Nebraska-- and former U.S. Ag Secretary-- Mike Johanns, and Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey. Co-chairs include U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, Iowa Congressman Tom Latham, and South Dakota Congresswoman Kristi Noem. All are Republicans.
Northey says President Obama hasn't made good on promises he made four years ago. He also said the need for fresh leadership in the White House "couldn't be clearer."
The $500-billion farm bill has passed the U.S. Senate, but stalled in the U.S. House. Lawmakers adjourned before the farm bill could get a floor vote in the House.
