SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

The of superintendent of Sioux City Community Public Schools says they still have work to do, to move off the "No Child Left Behind" watch list, for good.

The school system is no longer considered deficient.

Dr. Paul Gausman, say they've been moved to "delayed status."

He says the Iowa Assessments students took back in March showed they had made significant improvements in two grade spans and scores had jumped in reading and math.

Teachers say students now know how important the tests are and that the scores reflect not only on themselves but on their school and the community.

"It's a combination that we are doing well within the schools. The fact that we are really focusing on the tests and motivating the kids to take the test because we've always been doing great things and our scores have been great, it's just a matter of getting every kid motivated to do it," Kevin Clark, an East High math teacher said.

School officials are still analyzing the data and in a couple of weeks, they will release the findings in their annual progress report.
