SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
One East High School student, and his mother, are proof that sometimes spare change can go a long way.
The Sioux City Mayor's Youth Commission purchased 43 boxes of clothes with nearly $720 of spare change as a part of the Siouxland Change for Children project.
The idea for the project came from Taylor Pluim and his mom.
Their goal?
To buy clothes for needy children.
"Hopefully that'll just give them hope while they're little kids, because if they have nothing and get something as little as this, it might make a big difference in their life," said Taylor Pluim, East High Senior.
The clothes will be given out to area elementary school students.
Donations are still being accepted.
And, local businesses encouraged to participate in collecting change.
