Jorge Delgado blasted his first home run and collected six RBIs Wednesday night.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Jason Jarvis threw eight innings of one run baseball and Jorge Delgado provided plenty of offense collecting six RBIs in Sioux City's 11-1 win over the Rockland Boulders Wednesday night at Lewis & Clark.
Jumping on starter Bobby Blevins, the X's scored four runs in the bottom of the first highlighted by Delgado's three-run blast. It was Delgado's first home run for Sioux City since joining the squad Aug., 7.
Rockland cut the lead to 4-1 with a run in the third, but the X's answered with two in the bottom of the frame and added another in fourth to open up a 7-1 lead.
Sioux City blew the game open by putting up a four-spot in the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, Serrano was hit by Blevins, plating Brandon Newton.
Delgado followed that up with a two-run single to open up 10-1 lead.
Two batters later Brian Bistagne added an RBI single of his own to give the X's a 10-run cushion.
Wally Backman Jr. extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a single in the sixth inning. He finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.
Ray Serrano pushed his hitting streak to 11 games with a 2-for-3 night at the dish. He scored three runs and drove in another for Sioux City.
Outfielder Brandon Newton also continued to scorch opposing pitching. Heading into Wednesday's game ranked fifth in the American Association with a .344 batting average, Newton was nearly perfected at the plate going 4-for-5 with three runs scored in the victory.
The X's will look for the sweep Thursday night. First pitch between Sioux City and Rockland is set for 7:05 at Lewis & Clark Park.
