USD finished 14-18 in their first season in the Summit League.

After placing sixth in its inaugural season of Summit League play, the South Dakota volleyball team was picked to finish sixth in the Summit League Preseason Coaches Poll released on Wednesday.
The Coyotes, which finished 7-11 in league play last season, received 33 points in the poll. North Dakota State, the defending league champion, was tabbed to win the league for the third time in four years with 62 points.
Head Coach Matt Houk will return 10 players from last season's 14-18 squad, including second-team All-Summit League choice Kendall Kritenbrink (Gretna, Neb.). The sophomore led the league in kills per set last season with 4.23.
The Coyotes will also return junior hitter Natalie Walseth (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.), junior setter Tori Kroll (Germantown, Wis.) and sophomore libero/defensive specialist Riley Haug (Gretna, Neb.). Kroll was sixth in the league in assists with 1,206, while Haug was third in total service aces with 41 last year. Junior Amber Aschoff (Ankeny, Iowa) also returns as a starting right-side hitter.
South Dakota has also added five incoming freshmen.
South Dakota will start its season on Aug. 24 against Tennessee State and Stetson at the Alabama State ISTAP Invitational.
