Community leaders address poverty situation in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Sioux City community leaders are getting together to tackle the city's poverty problem.  Members of local service and government agencies are getting together with local clergy and congregations to talk about the issues surrounding poverty in Siouxland.  Some say local poverty rates have increased, and there are fewer resources to go around.

Many local churches want to work together and start The Micah Project.  They hope it the project will help connect services with those who need it most.

The group will meet from 10am to 1pm Thursday, August 16th in the Wilbur Aalfs Library in downtown Sioux City.
