SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa (KTIV/KUOO) -
The Spirit Lake City Council reviewed revised plans for a new city hall, but it probably won't be until this coming March before it goes in front of voters.
The revised proposal has a total cost of nearly $1.8 million. The city would still use $500,000 in cash reserves to buy-down the amount to be borrowed. With that and other financing costs figured in, city officials say the amount that would be on the ballot would $1,355,000. That's considerably lower than the $1,745,000 proposal that failed in November, 2011.
The revised plans call for a single-story masonry structure on the same site with a full basement. Each level would contain 6,839 square feet. The council will hold a work session after Labor Day to further review and fine tune the floor plan and costs.
