Kingsley-Pierson finished last season with a 7-3 record.
KINGSLEY, Iowa (KTIV) -
For Kingsley-Pierson's John McNaughton and Colin Henrich, they're not taking their senior status on the football field for granted.
"Everyone kind of looks up to you as a senior, said Henrich. "You really can't show your negative emotions on the field."
Kingsley-Pierson has had success over the past two years, piling up 12 wins and advancing to the postseason. But the Panthers want to set the bar higher in 2012.
"Set up the tradition, build on it every year, advance further every year and just improve every season," said Co-Head Coach Brent Koedam.
Kingsley-Pierson has a bad taste in their mouths after losing their opening round game of the last two postseasons. But that is only fueling the fire for the Panthers.
"I always want to get more." McNaughton said. "I always want to do more than just that first round cause we've failed the first round the last couple of years, I just want to keep moving on from that."
Which leads to time in the weight room, extra running, and practice outside of practice. All at the players expense.
"It just kind of depends on the players on how bad they want it," Koedam added.
And for this senior class they want to set the standard for this year and the years to come.
"We've grown together the past four years and we're just trying to do our best to make this team the best it can be," said McNaughton.
Kingsley-Pierson opens up the season August 24th when they travel to Laurens-Marathon.
