Attorney: Norfolk, NE man killed in "accidental shooting"

Norfolk, Nebraska police may release new details Monday about the circumstances surrounding the death of a man there.  The Madison County Attorney says 21-year-old William Webbert was killed in an "accidental shooting" at his home.  Joe Smith says authorities were called to the 800 block of Boxelder Avenue around four Saturday morning.  Several other people were in Webbert's home when the accident happened.

UPDATE: Antiquated Alta grain elevator goes down in flames


It was a hands on lesson in firefighting for 25 volunteer departments from seven Siouxland counties Sunday in Alta, Iowa.  The old Ag Partners elevator was set ablaze in a controlled burn.  It was also a chance for dozens of firefighters to train for the real thing.  While feeling the heat, the volunteers learned how to work together to battle a blaze with the resources they have.

Sloan public library celebrates grand opening


Sloan, Iowa gets a new library.  Residents cut the ribbon on the new space Saturday.  The library is four times larger than their old one and the 7,000 square foot facility has extra space devoted to teens.  The city saved money during the project by turning a former grocery store building into the library instead of building new.

Nebraskans reach out to try and 'Be A Match' for bone marrow donation

A bone marrow donor drive in Norfolk, Nebraska will help people with rare diseases.  Be the Match helped get people in town added to the national bone marrow donor registry.  The event was inspired by Kris Miner, who developed a rare form of cancer and needed a transplant, but none of the ten million donors in the registry matched.
