DENVER ( KTIV) -

A Colorado woman who drown in West Lake Okoboji was a nurse who treated victims of the Aurora theater shooting.

Forty-six-year-old Jennifer Gallagher, of Denver, died after she went swimming the night of Aug. 6 and her body was found by a family member under the dock. The Denver Post reports that Gallagher helped care for victims taken to University of Colorado Hospital and was among the staffers who met with President Barack Obama during his visit.

University of Colorado Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Carolyn Sanders hired Gallagher 13 years ago. "Jenny was a beloved nurse," said Sanders. "She was very well known for her ability to connect with people, show empathy and develop caring relationships with her patients."
