Siouxland man appointed to board overseeing permits for Hyperion project

A Jefferson, South Dakota man is now on the board that will help determine permits for the Hyperion Energy Center near Elk Point.

Governor Dennis Daugaard has appointed Doyle Karpen to a four-year term on the South Dakota Board of Minerals and Environment.  Karpen is a Union County Commissioner.

The nine-member Board of Minerals and Environment deals with issues involving solid waste, hazardous waste, mining, air quality, and oil and gas exploration.
