Iowa Lt. Governor named Secretary of the Republican National Convention

POCAHONTAS, Iowa (KTIV) -

She says it came as a complete surprise, but Iowa Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds has been named Secretary of the Republican National Convention.

The event's being held in Tampa Bay, Florida next week.

Both Reynolds and Governor Branstad will travel there for "numerous events" through Thursday.

Reynolds says she's excited, but doesn't quite know the extent of her duties just yet.

"Well, I don't know for sure, to be really honest. We will meet with [officials] once we get down there, get the credentials, then they'll actually go over what it entails," she said.

The GOP convention begins next Monday.
