DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. (KTIV) -

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a Sioux City, teenager died Saturday when she fell from the bed of a pickup on a road in Dakota Dunes.

Authorities say, 15-year-old Alexi Vaul was riding in the bed of a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 pickup and talking through the rear window with the driver, 16-year old William Murray of McCook Lake, South Dakota.

They say the pickup traveled off the road on a curve and hit the curb. The impact threw Vaul out of the vehicle, and she suffered fatal injuries. Neither Murray nor two other passengers were injured.

The incident happened just before 8:30 Saturday night on Sioux Point Road.

The Highway Patrol said authorities are still investigating whether charges should be filed.
