NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -
If you are a Nebraska resident between the ages of 50 and 80-years-old, you could be in a movie. Nebraska-native and director Alexander Payne recently announced that crews will begin shooting his latest film "Nebraska" in October and will basing their operation in Norfolk.
On the day that Alexander Payne made his announcement in Norfolk last week, there were more than 180 emails to their casting office. However, they were all inquiring about roles for children and younger adults. Filmmakers say it's the older crowd they're after. Payne says out of the 25 to 30 acting and speaking parts in the film, only 8 will be cast outside of the Cornhusker State. Anyone who fit's the age requirement and may be interested in a speaking or extra role should contact the films casting department by emailing their contact information along with their age and a photo. The address is nebraska.casting@gmail.com.
Payne says his casting director and crew will be in Norfolk after Labor Day and will do most of the filming in Norfolk and a number of other smaller towns in the area. The black and white film is about an older man and his son on their way from Montana to Nebraska when they stop in a small fictional Nebraska town.
Payne and his production crew are planning for a release in the fall of 2013.
