Fischer still expected to speak at GOP convention

Posted:
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -

U.S. Senate hopeful Deb Fischer will still get to speak at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.
The Nebraska Republican is now scheduled to deliver her remarks on Tuesday, sometime between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. CDT. Her original speaking slot had been set for Monday, but Tropical Storm Isaac forced convention organizers to cancel virtually all of the opening-day events.
Fischer will address delegates at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
National Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus officially gaveled the convention into session on Monday, but recessed for the day less than two minutes later.
