Heineman: "Tough decisions" needed in Washington

Posted:

At the Republican National Convention in Florida, all eyes are on Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. But, it's the two people, who took the stage Monday night that people can't stop talking about.

Nebraska governor Dave Heineman is in Tampa. He said Ann Romney's speech, which focused on Mitt Romney as a husband and father, was "outstanding." He also praised the "hard truths" told by New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who spoke after Ann Romney.

Heineman says he's had to do the same thing in Nebraska. Gov. Dave Heineman, (R) Nebraska says, "I've been very direct and straightforward with our citizens. We had to control spending and balance the budget. That way, not by raising taxes. We made tough decisions and we're in better shape." Heineman says the states have been making tough decisions. Now, he says, it's time to do the same at the federal level.
