Dickinson County Recorder challenged on November ballot

Posted:
SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa (KTIV/KUOO) -

There is a second person running for the Dickinson County Recorder's position.

Janelle Treganza, a 10-year veteran of the office, has filed papers to run for the office as an Independent, facing off against Ann Dittsworth, who's running as a Republican.

Dickinson county Democrats held a special convention recently to nominate someone from that party, but opted not to.

Delegates instead adopted a statement opposing any effort to merge the Recorder and Auditor's Offices.

It was in response to a petition circulating at the time that would have put the merger proposal on the ballot with the November General Election.

It failed to get the needed number of signatures.

The Dickinson County Recorder position has been vacant since long-time Recorder Jan Bortscheller retired last month.
