UPDATE: Huge ticket line for President Obama's Sioux City visit

Tickets for Saturday's campaign event for the President are going fast.  Hundreds lined up at Barack Obama's Morningside campaign office Thursday morning for those tickets, which are first come, first served.  If any are still available, you can pick one up by stopping by either one of two Obama campaign offices in Sioux City.
The President will speak on the Hilker Campus Mall at Morningside College Saturday night at 6:30.  Gates open at 4:30pm.

Tractor ride helps raise scholarship funds for ag program

The public had a chance to learn about the Iowa Lakes Community College's Farm Lab through a tractor ride.  The annual ride will help fund some students' education though donations for scholarships.  Nearly thirty tractors were available for rides, and folks could make donations at dinner to the Ag Scholarship program at Iowa Lakes.

Making the call: How SC schools determine early dismissals

With temperatures topping triple digits this week, several Siouxland schools dismissed students early because of the heat.  Bishop Heelan Schools and Sioux City Community buildings without air-conditioning, plan to dismiss early again Friday.  School officials use indoor temperature tracking to determine whether or not kids will go home early.  Outdoor temperature, wind speed, humidity, and temperature swings are also taken into account, which officials say can make the final decision a bit tricky.
