Posted:

Band members comment after the lead guitarist of the rock band, Starship, died after a performance in Norfolk, Nebraska Sunday night.

The band was performing as part of the Divots Summer Outdoors Concert Series.

In a post on the band's Facebook and Twitter pages Monday, band members say, "We are all shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of our guitar player Mark Abrahamian. Mark was a kind, thoughtful and innovative soul. He was also a friend and family member."

The 46-year-old had been with the band since 2000, playing 100 to 125 shows per year.

The band has canceled Monday night's event in Orem, Utah at the SCERA Center for the Arts.
