SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The mild weather means Iowa should see an increase in it pheasant population this year with some of the best hunting in Northwest Iowa.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the bird population should be up 16 percent this year.
The statewide average count on a 30 mile route is eight birds this year.
But, you'll find the highest number of pheasants in Northwest Iowa, up to 16 birds in that same stretch.
The Iowa pheasant season runs from October 27th through January 10th.
