MERRILL, Iowa (KTIV) -
Power was knocked out for people in parts of northwest Iowa, after strong storms blew through the area overnight. In Merrill, Iowa winds of up to 70 miles per hour knocked down trees and power lines. Streets and driveways were blocked and utility crews were out working to restore electricity.
Dozens of people in Merrill and Emmetsburg were still without power early Wednesday morning. Some areas received heavy rain. Hail was reported in some places, including Kingsley and Washta.
Sioux City escaped the brunt of the storms, officially recording 7/100ths of an inch of rain.
