Officials arrest man for critically injuring Spencer resident

SPENCER, Iowa (KTIV) -

For the second time in as many weeks, police in Spencer, Iowa are dealing with a beating that resulted in critical injuries.  Police say that late Saturday night, they were called to an alley in the 200 block of Grand Avenue where they found a man lying on his back and unresponsive.

Jefferson Wilbur of Spencer, age 44, was taken to the local hospital then flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Sioux Falls with several fractures to his face and possible life-threatening injuries after his head struck the ground.

A short time later, 22-year-old Chase Foote of rural Spencer was arrested and charged with Willful Injury in the incident.  He was booked into the Clay County Jail.

Police say a condition report for Wilbur is not available.
