Members of Sioux City Professional Firefighters Union present a check Thursday to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Members of Sioux City's Professional Firefighters Union made a donation to help cancer patients Thursday morning: a $1,500 check to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center's Race for Hope fund. They raised the money through membership dues and their annual golf tournament.
The firefighters say it's just one more way they can help save lives.
"It's great, it's really great when you can give back to the community we are fortunate that the sc community is always there supporting the sc firefighters and any time we can give back in a positive charitable way it's a really good feeling and I know all the members really appreciate it too," said Dan Cougill, the president of Sioux City Professional Firefighters.
The money will help cancer patients pay for treatments and help the June E Nylen Cancer Center pay for new technologies. The Race for Hope is planned for Saturday, September 15th.
