Chadron State Park in Nebraska reopens after massive wildfires
CHADRON, Neb. (AP) -
Chadron State Park is reopening after massive wildfires threatened the region.
Officials with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission say visitors can return to the park starting Friday.
A large number of trees were burned and ground vegetation was scorched, but none of the park cabins or buildings was damaged. The park closed late last week as the area was evacuated.
Crews are cleaning the cabins, and they should be available for rent early next week. Park officials say visitors with respiratory problems should be aware of possible air quality issues, especially if wind disturbs the ashes.
