Work to change downtown parking meter times starts this month

Posted:
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

You might want to bring more change with you if you're headed downtown.

As we told you last month, the half-hour and one-hour parking meters are being converted to two-hour minimums.

Meters will stay the same in front of businesses who request to keep the current time limit.

Those areas are the 500 block of Nebraska, 600 block of Douglas, and the 1 hour stalls near 6th and Douglas.

The changes will come soon, thanks to a feedback from downtown businesses and shoppers.

"One of those items, was there was not enough 2 hour parking downtown," Monette Harbeck, Sioux City Parking Supervisor.

Of the city's 900 meters, a majority are already two-hours.
