Posted:
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Sioux City fire investigators say a faulty extension cord caused this house fire at 2309 Dacotah Street in Sioux City.

According to fire officials, there was one person home when the fire started at about 2:30 Monday afternoon.

They say a man was in the basement of his rental home when he heard smoke detectors going off upstairs.  He saw the flames and ran out of the house to safety.  However, the home was destroyed.
