UPDATE: Spencer, IA man charged with murder in fatal beating

SPENCER, Iowa (KTIV) -

A Spencer, Iowa man has died from injuries suffered in a brutal beating nearly two weeks ago.

Authorities found 59-year old Edward Kitto beaten and unresponsive in the backyard of a home in the 500 block of East 3rd Street Monday August 27th after a burglary. Kitto was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital where he died over the weekend.

Spencer police originally charged 21-year old Christopher Fitzpatrick with wilful injury and 1st-degree burglary. He's now charged with 1st-degree murder.

21-year-old Cody Millard, of Spencer is charged with interference in connection with the case.
