SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) -
In less than two months time, a South Sioux bank has its second robbery.
Police say around 9:15 Tuesday morning, a 67-year-old Max Lafferty walked into Bank of the West on Dakota Avenue. He showed a knife, and demanded money. Employees obliged, and handed the guy an undisclosed amount. The suspect left on foot.
About five minutes later, authorities say they caught up the man a couple blocks away from the bank. He was taken into custody.
"Quick response has a lot to do with it. We did have an officer, fairly close in the area, which was a big help," said South Sioux Police Chief Scot Ford.
Lafferty faces charges of Robbery and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.
This is the second time Bank of the West has been robbed in two months. Last week, police arrested 28-year-old Robert Thomas, of Marshalltown, Iowa in connection with a July 23rd hold-up.
