CENTERVILLE, Ind. (AP) -
Police in eastern Indiana say a man from Yankton, South Dakota was struck and killed on Interstate 70 when he walked into traffic after his vehicle had crashed.
The Wayne County sheriff says 25-year-old Timothy Schlaefli's vehicle left the highway near the town of Centerville and ran into the safety cables in the median about 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Sheriff Jeff Cappa tells the Palladium-Item newspaper that Schlaefli got out of his vehicle and walked into I-70's eastbound lanes, where he was struck by a semitrailer.
Cappa says Schlaefli was pronounced dead at the scene about 10 miles west of the Indiana-Ohio state line.
