SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
One city, one day, three incidents.
Sioux City Police are trying to find out who is trying to lure kids into their cars.
The first incident happened about 7 a.m. Wednesday at 11th and Jennings.
Police say a man, in a silver Honda, drove slowly by a bus stop and made suspicious comments to a girl there.
Just two hours later a second incident took place in the Morningside neighborhood.
An official with Sioux City Community Schools says a student was on his way to Washington Elementary when he was approached by a man driving a white, two-door vehicle.
The man, believed to be 25 years old, told the boy he would give him a ride to school.
The boy refused, and continued walking to school where he then told his teacher about what had happened.
The third reported incident took place just after 1 p.m. on the city's west side.
Police say eight girls were playing on the Roosevelt Elementary playground when what they describe as a "dark skinned" male in a white car motioned them to come to the car, even yelling the name of one of the girls in the group.
Officials are still trying to determine whether the incidents are related.
"That is very uncommon for something like this to happen. I want to assure you that the police department takes these complaints very seriously until we can determine otherwise. So, it is being investigated and is approached as legitimate complaints at this time," said Doug Young, Sioux City Police Department.
