SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Whether he's running routes or fielding a punt, the Black Raiders Dom Thompson-Williams has one thing on his mind.
"I think I just have to get good field position," Thompson-Williams said. "Coach always talks about good field position. That's the only thing that goes through my mind. And, if a big play happens, then it happens."
Through East's first three games, the senior has found the endzone four times, racked up more than 400 yards receiving and is averaging 25 yards per catch.
"Dom might be the best receiver that I've coach in 28 years," Head Coach Bob Goodvin said. "He's very explosive. When he gets the ball he can get from 0 mile per hour to 10 miles pre hour pretty fast and he can do it in a short distance. As far as anybody I've coached, he can take a five yard catch and make it a 70 yard catch pretty quick."
"It feels great. I know what defenders are doing before they do it," Thompson-Williams said. "I just think it's the athleticism God gave me. Just be out there doing stuff like that, I'm just thankful for it."
And even though he's focused on picking up one yard at a time, on more than occasion this season, Thompson-Williams' big play potential has been on full display.
"Well, at a certain point, we all become fans," his coach added. "And we all just like watching him play. And, when we need some yards, we know we can count on Dom."
Iowa, Iowa State and Michigan have taken notice of Thompson-Williams and have reached out to the standout senior.
"It's unbelievable," he said. "If you would have told me I would have been getting looked at since I was a sophomore, I would have never believed you. I would have said you're joking."
