A recreation area that is under construction near Hubbard, Nebraska now has a name.

On Thursday night, the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District Board of Directors voted to name the Pigeon/Jones Creek Watershed after long-time Nebraska Conservationist Vince Kramper of Hubbard.

When completed, Kramper Lake will be 226 acres surrounded by over 500 acres of park land.

The Board also voted to name the park Danish Alps Recreation Area.

They say the surrounding hilly terrain is reminiscent of the Danish homeland and the immigrants who settled in this area.

The opening of the recreation area for public use is set for the fall of 2015.
