EARLY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The U.S. 20 Corridor Association says another four-lane section of Highway 20 is about to be completed.
U.S. 20 stretches across Iowa from Dubuque to Sioux City. For more than 50 years, the association's goal has been to turn the about 310 mile highway from a two-lane into a four-lane.
Thursday, they met in Early for a construction update on a four-lane segment that connects western Calhoun County to eastern Sac County.
The group says contractors expect the 26 mile section will be open in a couple months.
"They estimate it will be open to traffic sometime around Thanksgiving. Of course, it can be affected by weather and other delays, but we're very optimistic this 26.2 mile section will be opened in late November," said the association's communications director, Ann Trimble-Ray.
Trimble-Ray says the project is close to completion. But, funding is still needed for a 35 mile stretch, from Correctionville to Early.
