PONCA, Neb. (KTIV) -
The timing for the annual Missouri River Expo was perfect for all those who enjoy the great outdoors.
There was a little something for everybody in Ponca, Neb., Saturday. Two of the big events involved water including the lumberjack show, with log-rolling.
Then, trainers got a chance to show off the athleticism of their canine friends that soared into a pool to retrieve flying objects and showed just how far they could jump.
The wide array of entertainment was all free.
"A sense of happiness more. They don't have to pay for anything. When stuff is free, they have a little better attitude about things too," said Colin Brandt of Ponca, Neb.
For those looking to get a bit more of a hands-on experience, the Eric Wiebe Shooting Complex was open for archers.
Others chose to go kayaking. For those looking to be entertained, there were plenty of shows, including a traveling sharpshooter.
Guests say they have a hard time choosing a favorite spot.
"It's my first year being here, and so far, it's really nice. Lots of people, lots of food, fun activities," said Morgan Fitch of Allen, Neb.
The final day of festivities concludes on Sunday. Most of these acts will be back on display.
