NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (KTIV) -
Runners often get up early to beat the heat, but Saturday, they were up and at it, so they could help defeat a bigger opponent: cancer.
It was the 16th annual Race for Hope. About 1,000 runners from all three Siouxland states came out to Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve in North Sioux City, S.D.
Runners chose between the five and 15K races. Many teams came together to fight for the same goal.
"Just shows how everybody is supportive of the whole community and the cancer center," said Ivy Clausen. "So, it really touches my heart how many people are out here today to support this cause."
Kids also got to participate in a one mile walk-run. All the money stays in Siouxland, and goes to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
