NE Nebraska school district issues alert over attempted abductions

TILDEN, Neb. (US92) -

After a rash of attempted abductions in Northwest Iowa, authorities and school officials in Nebraska are now on high alert.

Police in Tilden say they are looking for a suspicious man who attempted to lure teen girls into his vehicle in two separate incidents last week.

Tilden Police Chief Bob Petersen say the first abduction attempt occurred around 5:40 p.m. Thursday when two junior high-aged girls reported a man asking them to get in his van.

The girls refused and ran away.

Then, on Friday another teen said she was approached around 2:40 in the afternoon by a man matching the same description.

Authorities are asking the public to be on the look out for a white male in his 50's, with no facial hair driving a older model light blue van.

Administrators of the Neligh-Oakdale School District put out a school alert tonight about the attempted abductions.
