Volunteers help out at the Food Bank of Siouxland.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
September is Hunger Action Month and the Food Bank of Siouxland held a "Celebrate our Friends Day."
A big thank you was given to volunteers, board members and staff Monday.
It's their work for the Food Bank that make it possible for what they do for the community.
The Food Bank of Siouxland distributes 1.5 million pounds of food annually and serves over 30,000 people in the area.
"Because everything that comes in, large and small, it's more than what we had when the day begin. So we're always grateful for all our friends, and donors, and partners," said Linda Scheid, Food Bank of Siouxland Executive Director.
Another part of hunger action month, the food bank is asking the public to participate in the 30 Ways in 30 Days campaign.
There's a calendar on the food bank's website that gives suggestions on daily ways to take action against hunger.
