CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) -

A 5,000-year-old bison skull has been found in downtown Cedar Rapids.
The Gazette reports that some teenagers recovered the skull while fishing near the 5 in 1 Dam.
Sixteen-year-old Cody Sprague, of Cedar Rapids, says he and his friends were using a net to catch some minnows when the net got snagged. One of the teens went into the water and found the net had gotten caught on the skull.
University of Iowa professor emeritus Holmes Semken says bison roamed the area thousands of years ago, but he says it's rare to find some of their remains.
Semken says the skull likely went into the river during the 2008 flooding.
Sprague says he hasn't decided whether to keep the skull, sell it or donate it.
