SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Called back to Washington to work on the Farm Bill, western Iowa congressman Steve King still made it to his Sioux City fundraiser "in spirit". He talked with keynote speaker Chris Christie by phone, which delayed the New Jersey governor's arrival on stage, twice.

Once there, Christie admitted to Republicans gathered for the "Defenders of Freedom" luncheon that he, and King, don't look like natural allies. Gov. Chris Christie, (R) New Jersey says, "Here's what we have in common. We stand up for what we believe in."

Christie acknowledged the close race King has with Christie Vilsack, and how crucial Iowa is in the presidential election. Drawing on the speech he delivered to the RNC, last month, Christie told the crowd that Obama's own speech, at the DNC, didn't tell voters what he plans to do in the next four years. But, Christie offered a prediction. Gov. Chris Christie, (R) New Jersey says, "Bigger government, more spending, government intruding more in your lives, and higher taxes."

Christie also seized on a statement made in a video, produced by the host city of Charlotte, that aired during the DNC, which was, "government is the only thing we all belong to. Gov. Chris Christie, (R) New Jersey says, "The Constitution that I read in school... we don't belong to government. It belongs to us."

Christie also took time to tout his own accomplishments as New Jersey's governor fueling speculation he'll run for president in 2016 if Mitt Romney loses in November.
