NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -

A Siouxland Olympian will be getting a hero's welcome in his hometown this weekend. The red carpets is getting rolled out for Norfolk native and Olympic pole vaulter Jeremy Scott. Officials with the Norfolk Area Sports Council say Scott will be taking part in the town's Lions Club Parade and Oktoberfest celebration this weekend.

Scott qualified for his first Olympics this past summer where he just missed out on qualifying for the medal round. The Norfolk High grad will be honored for his efforts this weekend by taking part in Saturday morning's Lions Club Parade and then sticking around afterwards for an autograph and photo session at the Norfolk Chamber Building from noon to 1:30.

Scott will then be taking part in a ceremony at 2 p.m. where Norfolk Mayor Sue Fuchtman will present Scott with the key to the city. This weekend's celebration will be Scott's first visit to the town he grew up in since the Olympics ended last month.
