Matt Smith and the Eagles are ranked No. 3 in Class A.
LAWTON, Iowa (KTIV) -
Lawton-Bronson is off to a 5-0 start to the season and ranked 3rd in this week's Iowa Class A rankings.
It's the second time in as many season the Eagles have started 5-0.
With a balanced attack he Eagles are averaging nearly 40 points per game.
Defensively Lawton-Bronson has allowed more than seven points just twice all season and forced 16 turnovers.
The early season success has come as a bit of a surprise.
"We had a good feeling about our team in the summer," senior Matt Smith said. "I don't know if we knew we would be this good. But, we're going to be tested as we play a tough four teams here."
The final four weeks for the Eagles could prove to be the toughest.
LB plays previously ranked Woodbury Central this Friday, followed by contests against No. 7 West Lyon, No.4 Akron-Westfield and Hinton to end the season.
"It's going to take effort by everybody," senior Zach Anderson added. "The whole team is going to have to step up and we're going to have to play hard each game, in and out, for four quarters."
"We' just excited to play such good competition and we know we're going to have to get better and play at the highest level we've ever played at to compete this Friday night and the games after that," Head Coach Chad Moseman said. "So, we're excited because you can't be the best unless you beat the best and that's our goal here at Lawton-Bronson.
