Quick response time helps crews knock down fire in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Sioux City fire investigators are trying to determine what started a fire that damaged an apartment in Sioux City earlier Wednesday afternoon.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. in a five unit house at 821 Jennings Street. Fire officials believe it started in a bedroom inside one of units.

Sioux City Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Jesse Pedersen says crews were able to get to the scene within minutes.

"This one we were very fortunate, and we were notified early on, so we were able to get in there while it was a small fire, and knock it down," said Pederson.

No one was inside the unit that burned, and everyone else was able to get out unharmed.
