Fire officials say the house at 116 Main street was smoking when they arrived on scene.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Sioux City fire crews were called to a house fire around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
Fire officials say the house at 116 Main street was smoking when they arrived on scene.
They say the three people were able to get out safely but two of their dogs died.
Fire officials think the fire started in a bedroom.
"At the time of the fire, all three were able to get out themselves, the smoke alarm actually alerted them and so they evacuated the building and called 911," Jesse Pedersen, Public Information Officer for Sioux City Fire said.
Pedersen says the house has a lot of damage and they are still investigating the cause.
The Siouxland American Red Cross is assisting the people affected by the fire.
