SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Besides deciding the presidential and congressional races, there will be several county races determined in November.

There are two names on the ballot for Woodbury County Sheriff.  They faced off Thursday night in downtown Sioux City.

Republican Dave Drew and Democrat Doug Boetger are both already deputies with the Woodbury County Sheriff's Department.

Some of the topics discussed, public safety and employee safety, how to value employees, and professionalism in the work place.

But there was one reoccurring theme, communication.

"It's communicating with the public a clear and concise message and sharing with them why we do what we do, and quite frankly, this administration and the board of supervisors have tabled motions time and time again," said Deputy David Drew, (R) Woodbury Co. Sheriff Candidate.

"I'd like to set up orderly meetings with the officers of the union, not to talk about contract negotiations, not to talk about benefits in the contract, just to talk about how the union feels about how it's going," said Deputy Doug Boetger, (D) Woodbury Co. Sheriff Candidate.

Boetger has been with the sheriff's department for 24 years.

Drew has been in law enforcement for 30 years.

The election will be held on November 6th.
